Wellness: What is Wellness?

What is Wellness?

Wellness Proposals  defines Wellness as the process of actively becoming aware of and learning to make healthy choices that lead toward a longer and more successful existence.

At some point in our life, we all find ourselves struggling with stress, sadness, or extreme frustration. This comes with the ebb and flow of life. When these are temporary or minor issues, the key is to actively become aware and then take steps to make healthy choices that will help one achieve a longer, active, and successful life. There are certain things that an individual can do to proactively take charge of increasing Wellness. Some lifestyle choices that are considered essentials to good health include healthful eating habits and nutrition, proper weight maintenance, exercise and physical activity, and controlling those factors that can harm health including tobacco, excess alcohol use, and drug abuse.

Why Wellness?

Research clearly points to the fact that Americans who take good care of themselves and make healthy lifestyle choices are healthier, happier, more productive, miss less work, and have lower healthcare costs than those who do not take a proactive approach to Wellness. An article from the Journal of the American Medical Association (AMA) noted that, in one research study, the Wellness approach produced a 17% decline in total medical / doctor visits and a 35% reduction in medical / doctor visits for minor illness. The participants in this study took part in a year-long self-care education program. These statistics speak volumes over the importance of a healthy mindset toward Wellness!

What about when this doesn’t work?

Many people try to improve Wellness with these positive, healthy steps, but they still seem to fighting an uphill battle. Stress becomes Anxiety, sadness becomes Depression, or frustration becomes Anger or Rage. When this happens, it is most likely a brain function issue that is causing symptoms. That is where neurofeedback and Dallas Brain Changers can help!

Beginning with an Initial Evaluation and qEEG, or Brain Map, we are able to determine which brain waves are out of balance that may be causing or worsening symptoms of many disorders. We then take an integrated approach toward increased health and Wellness that includes neurofeedback and Christian counseling. Through rebalancing the brain waves with neurofeedback and addressing unhealthy thought and behavior patterns with counseling, our clients gain an improved ability to address and tackle greater nutrition, increased exercise, and healthier choices overall. By the end of treatment, our clients are stronger in body, mind, and Spirit, and they are actively living a life of increased Wellness.
